Rockwood Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Independence, Missouri.
Rockwood Golf Club first opened for play in 1947. The front nine was designed by Jay Davis. The back nine, which opened years later was designed by Charles Dupree.
Rockwood Golf Club is a short but challenging par 70 course. The terrain varies between flat to hilly, so expect a variety of lies in the fairways. Water hazards (two lakes) come into play on six holes. The fairways are tree lined and narrow.
The historic western Independence golf course, once considered one of the premier golf clubs in greater Kansas City and where Harry Truman played golf, closed in 2012. The course has not been maintained and the land is now on the market (2012). The clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 2011.

This course is great for me. I only play 5 or 6 times a year, so inexpensive and lower quality if good for me. I only wish it were closer to my house but its worth the drive for the low price.

some tee boxes are more rough than tee box, the fairways are hard to define from the rough and 3 or more greens are in really bad shap part dirt spots and chunks of crab grass
